I want to talk a little about Russian culture.

Everyone knows that Russia has a long long history and through more then a 1000 years of it Russians carried some elements of culture. Folklore is one of them. It appeared even before Christianity and writing, during ancient times when our ancestors were pagans and Russia as a country didn’t exist.

Nowadays we explore folklore with great interest, but we can’t always understand it. Why? One of the reasons is that we don’t see the whole picture. Folklore is connected with many invisible features of culture, such as beliefs, values and habits. For example, some fairytales are clearly based not only on perception of good and evil, but also on beliefs connected with afterlife. Through folklore, we can understand the habits of our ancestors, their superstitions, how their year, day or month passed many centuries ago. Because all these elements influenced the formation of folklore.
